Joonus Sait and Sons started from humble beginnings in 1905 when the late Yunus Sait moved from his hometown Bellary, Karnataka to Madras in search of opportunities to earn a better livelihood. He set up shop near Parry’s Corner in Ratan Bazaar (a busy marketplace near Fort St. George – the heart of Madras). Initially, he started trading and selling rayonl and silk fabrics to Madras High Court Magistrates and Barristers.

Mr.Yunus Sait‘s son, the late Mr.Oosman Sait, joined his family business and helped continue the company’s steady growth.

Over the course of the few years, Joonus Sait and Sons grew into a major player in the market, quickly adding fitting fabrics for shirting & suiting, while also adding a full-scale tailoring unit to its retail store.

1957

It wasn’t until the late Mr.Ibrahim Sait took over the family business in 1957 , that Joonus Sait and Sons made a complete turnaround, moving into winter wear, rainwear and related accessories. This move surprised loyal customers, but it was welcomed with open arms.

The textile market was getting saturated & needed a supplier for Rain & winter products. The brand gradually started to introduce a variety of styles & products into its catalogue.

1983

When Mr.Usmaan Sait took over the company in 1983, he studied the market carefully and achieved a dominant position in the market by connecting with big name brands such as Monte Carlo, Duck Back, Warmline and others. He realised that the market needed quality products that would set him apart from the competition, and under his reign, the company began fulfiling corporate orders for raincoats, boots, gloves and sweaters from private and government agencies.

2007

This entrepreneurial approach was further strengthened when the dynamic duo of Mr.Naumaan Sait and Mr.Safwaan Sait, Usmaan Sait’s sons, joined the company in the mid 2000s. While Mr. Naumaan Sait’s business acumen strengthens the company’s supply chain and operations, Mr. Safwaan Sait‘s creativity and marketing skills help the brand reach more customers and corporate clients.

Much to everyone’s surprise, the brothers quickly branched out into two additional stores in key strategic locations in the city of Chennai. A store in Purasawalkam in 2007 (North West of Chennai), which is one of the two largest retail markets in the city and the other in Adyar in 2019 – the centre of ever-growing South of Chennai. The two new flagship stores offer the same rustic feel and warm customer experience without losing touch with the demands of today’s competitive retail market.
